Thanks to all of you for patience as Tita learns the publishing game. It looks like the book, A Kinship Guide to Rescuing Children - for Grandparents and Other Relatives as Parents, will be ready for distribution in February! Published by Chicago Road Publishing LLC, the book covers those topics rarely available to the millions of families who have taken on the care of related children. In four sections the guidebook covers issues like:
how to start a kincare group
children in the electronic world
Written in an informal conversational style, we hope the book will be valuable to all of you who have faced or will face the difficulties of navigating helping systems on behalf of your new family. More information and updates should be on this little blog site in a few days. Keep checking back. affectionately, Tita
This web log is for Kinship Care families who have taken on the responsibility of a grandchild, niece or nephew, or younger sibling, because the parents are unable to parent at this time. The main focus is to share resources with Kinship Care families and offer regularly posted notes on getting through the systems that kinship care families face: legal, social services, schools, health care. I, Helene, have worked decades with communities and many courageous families who raise the children in their extended family. I am the author of A Kinship Guide to Rescuing Children for Grandparents and Other Relatives As Parents, www.chicagoroadpublishing.com. I welcome your comments on what we share here.
Affectionately, Helene or known by my grandchildren as Tita
